Neurodegeneration & Mitochondrial Dysfunction With Robert Thomas
Research into cellular biochemistry over the last two decades has uncovered a mechanistic link to a potential strategy for addressing age-related decline in energy levels and cognitive ability.
That link involves a relationship between energy (ATP) production, oxidative stress and neurodegeneration. Mitochondria are found abundantly in neurons as an essential requirement for generating high levels of ATP for their own function. However, the counter to that is that the same process generates high levels of potentially damaging oxidant stressors.
A number of neurodegenerative illnesses are known to be connected with compromised oxidative defences within the neurons. Older patients frequently present with neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s’ Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and others.
In this webinar, you will learn:
- Effective nutrigenomic interventions that activate Nrf2 cellular master switch.
- The key role in mitochondrial integrity and function.
- Understanding the importance of diet, lifestyle and food-based phytochemicals as activators of Nrf2.
- Nature-compatible tools to restore and maintain healthy mitochondrial function, reducing the progression of neurodegenerative disease.
Meet the Speaker: Rob Thomas
Robert Thomas is a Naturopathic Practitioner with post-graduate credentials in nutrigenomics. With over four decades’ experience as a clinician and health educator, he now specialises in Clinical Nutrigenomics as the Senior Clinician Educator with Cell-Logic, Australia.
Robert practised in his own clinic in Far North Queensland, lectured at a local natural medicine college, hosted regular health forums and worked with victims of addiction imparting simple lifestyle and stress management skills based on the philosophies of natural medicine.
He was intimately involved in the development and roll-out of a holistic health programme into schools, partnered by the General Practitioners Network and Queensland Health. Having lectured on the clinical applications of nutrigenomics to clinicians throughout Australia and New Zealand, he is also a Faculty member of the Institute for Nutrigenomic Medicine.
