The Herbal Extract Company is a family-operated, practitioner-only herbal manufacturing house steeped in tradition and herbal expertise, they handcraft liquid herbal extracts designed to preserve the holistic integrity of the plant, “as nature intended”.

Founded by Lyndsay Shume, who trained with the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and passed his deep herbal wisdom to his children and grandchildren, the company remains anchored in clinical herbalism and meticulous craftsmanship . Today, Managing Director Annette Lambert continues this legacy—grounded in memories of wildcrafting with her grandfather and shaped by her strategic experience—to guide the company’s vision toward uncompromised quality.
Time-Honoured Quality Practices
Their manufacturing approach starts with sustainably grown or wildcrafted whole herbs, often sourced from Australia. Raw materials undergo rigorous identity and quality testing—including botanical, chemical, and microbiological analysis in their in-house labs—before being crafted into highly traceable liquid extracts.
Traditional Extraction for Full-Spectrum Herbal Power
Using a gentle continuous flow cold percolation process, all extracts are handmade without heat, concentration, fillers, or additives. This technique preserves the herb’s complex blend of constituents and minimises degradation, aligning with the belief that therapeutic activity stems from the combined plant chemistry—not isolated actives.
Practitioner-Only Focus & Thoughtful Support
The company offers practitioners exclusive access to extracts—not available in general retail—delivered with a depth of educational material (monographs, case studies, practitioner guides). Dedicated support is available via a practitioner email channel.
Ethical Stewardship & Sustainability
Fully committed to environmental and ethical responsibility, the company carefully sources from wild and cultivated botanical suppliers, adheres to CITES and Australian environmental standards, and ensures each step supports biodiversity and responsible plant use.
